и ви́дѣвъ, я́ко согрѣши́сте предъ Го́сподемъ Бо́гомъ ва́шимъ, и сотвори́сте себѣ́ телца́ слiя́на, и соступи́сте съ пути́ ско́ро, его́же заповѣ́да Госпо́дь ва́мъ твори́ти,

Моисей побуждает к смирению и напоминает об идолопоклонстве у Хорива и их упорстве в грехе.

Слушай, Израиль: ты теперь идешь за Иордан, чтобы пойти овладеть народами, которые больше и сильнее тебя, городами большими, с укреплениями до небес,

народом [великим,] многочисленным и великорослым, сынами Енаковыми, о которых ты знаешь и слышал: «кто устоит против сынов Енаковых?»

Знай же ныне, что Господь, Бог твой, идет пред тобою, как огнь поядающий; Он будет истреблять их и низлагать их пред тобою, и ты изгонишь их, и погубишь их скоро, как говорил тебе Господь.

Когда будет изгонять их Господь, Бог твой, от лица твоего, не говори в сердце твоем, что за праведность мою привел меня Господь овладеть сею [доброю] землею, и что за нечестие народов сих Господь изгоняет их от лица твоего;

не за праведность твою и не за правоту сердца твоего идешь ты наследовать землю их, но за нечестие [и беззакония] народов сих Господь, Бог твой, изгоняет их от лица твоего, и дабы исполнить слово, которым клялся Господь отцам твоим Аврааму, Исааку и Иакову;

посему знай [ныне], что не за праведность твою Господь, Бог твой, дает тебе овладеть сею доброю землею, ибо ты народ жестоковыйный.

Помни, не забудь, сколько ты раздражал Господа, Бога твоего, в пустыне: с самого того дня, как вышел ты из земли Египетской, и до самого прихода вашего на место сие вы противились Господу.

И при Хориве вы раздражали Господа, и прогневался на вас Господь, так что хотел истребить вас,

когда я взошел на гору, чтобы принять скрижали каменные, скрижали завета, который поставил Господь с вами, и пробыл на горе сорок дней и сорок ночей, хлеба не ел и воды не пил,

и дал мне Господь две скрижали каменные, написанные перстом Божиим, а на них [написаны были] все слова, которые изрек вам Господь на горе из среды огня в день собрания.

И сказал мне Господь: [Я говорил тебе один и другой раз:] вижу Я народ сей, вот он народ жестоковыйный;

не удерживай Меня, и Я истреблю их, и изглажу имя их из поднебесной, а от тебя произведу народ, который будет [больше,] сильнее и многочисленнее их.

Я обратился и пошел с горы, гора же горела огнем; две скрижали завета были в обеих руках моих;

и видел я, что вы согрешили против Господа, Бога вашего, сделали себе литого тельца, скоро уклонились от пути, которого [держаться] заповедал вам Господь;

и взял я обе скрижали, и бросил их из обеих рук своих, и разбил их пред глазами вашими.

И [вторично] повергшись пред Господом, молился я, как прежде, сорок дней и сорок ночей, хлеба не ел и воды не пил, за все грехи ваши, которыми вы согрешили, сделав зло в очах Господа [Бога вашего] и раздражив Его;

ибо я страшился гнева и ярости, которыми Господь прогневался на вас и хотел погубить вас. И послушал меня Господь и на сей раз.

И на Аарона весьма прогневался Господь и хотел погубить его; но я молился и за Аарона в то время.

Грех же ваш, который вы сделали, – тельца я взял, сожег его в огне, разбил его и всего истер до того, что он стал мелок, как прах, и я бросил прах сей в поток, текущий с горы.

И в Тавере, в Массе и в Киброт-Гаттааве вы раздражили Господа [Бога вашего].

И когда посылал вас Господь из Кадес-Варни, говоря: пойдите, овладейте землею, которую Я даю вам, – то вы воспротивились повелению Господа Бога вашего, и не поверили Ему, и не послушали гласа Его.

Вы были непокорны Господу с того самого дня, как я стал знать вас.

И повергшись пред Господом, умолял я сорок дней и сорок ночей, в которые я молился, ибо Господь хотел погубить вас;

и молился я Господу и сказал: Владыка Господи, [Царь богов,] не погубляй народа Твоего и удела Твоего, который Ты избавил величием [крепости] Твоей, который вывел Ты из Египта рукою сильною [и мышцею Твоею высокою];

вспомни рабов Твоих, Авраама, Исаака и Иакова, [которым Ты клялся Собою]; не смотри на ожесточение народа сего и на нечестие его и на грехи его,

дабы [живущие] в той земле, откуда Ты вывел нас, не сказали: «Господь не мог ввести их в землю, которую обещал им, и, ненавидя их, вывел Он их, чтоб умертвить их в пустыне».

А они Твой народ и Твой удел, который Ты вывел [из земли Египетской] силою Твоею великою и мышцею Твоею высокою.

И взошел Моисей с равнин Моавитских на гору Нево, на вершину Фасги, что против Иерихона, и показал ему Господь всю землю Галаад до самого Дана,

И умер там Моисей, раб Господень, в земле Моавитской, по слову Господню;

и погребен на долине в земле Моавитской против Беф-Фегора, и никто не знает места погребения его даже до сего дня.

Моисею было сто двадцать лет, когда он умер; но зрение его не притупилось, и крепость в нем не истощилась.

И оплакивали Моисея сыны Израилевы на равнинах Моавитских [у Иордана близ Иерихона] тридцать дней. И прошли дни плача и сетования о Моисее.

И Иисус, сын Навин, исполнился духа премудрости, потому что Моисей возложил на него руки свои, и повиновались ему сыны Израилевы и делали так, как повелел Господь Моисею.

»Oye, Israel: tú vas hoy a pasar el Jordán, para entrar a desposeer a naciones más numerosas y más poderosas que tú, ciudades grandes y amuralladas hasta el cielo,

un pueblo grande y alto, los hijos de los anaceos, de los cuales tienes tú conocimiento, y de quienes has oído decir: “¿Quién se sostendrá delante de los hijos de Anac?”

Entiende, pues, hoy, que es Jehová, tu Dios, el que pasa delante de ti como fuego consumidor, quien los destruirá y humillará en tu presencia. Tú los echarás y los destruirás en seguida, como Jehová te ha dicho.

»Cuando Jehová, tu Dios, los haya echado de delante de ti, no digas en tu corazón: “Por mi justicia me ha traído Jehová a poseer esta tierra”, pues por la impiedad de estas naciones Jehová las arroja de delante de ti.

No por tu justicia ni por la rectitud de tu corazón entras a poseer la tierra de ellos, sino por la impiedad de estas naciones Jehová, tu Dios, las arroja de delante de ti, y para confirmar la palabra que Jehová juró a tus padres Abraham, Isaac y Jacob.

Cuando yo subí al monte para recibir las tablas de piedra, las tablas del pacto que Jehová hizo con vosotros, estuve entonces en el monte cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, sin comer pan ni beber agua.

Jehová me dio las dos tablas de piedra escritas por el dedo de Dios, y en ellas estaban escritas todas las palabras que os habló Jehová en el monte, de en medio del fuego, el día de la asamblea.

»Yo me volví y descendí del monte, el cual ardía en llamas, con las tablas del pacto en mis dos manos.

Miré y vi que habíais pecado contra Jehová, vuestro Dios: os habíais hecho un becerro de fundición, apartándoos bien pronto del camino que Jehová os había señalado.

Entonces tomé las dos tablas, las arrojé de mis dos manos y las quebré delante de vuestros ojos.

Luego me postré delante de Jehová, y como antes hice, durante cuarenta días y cuarenta noches no comí pan ni bebí agua, a causa de todo el pecado que habíais cometido haciendo el mal ante los ojos de Jehová para enojarlo.

Porque temí a causa del furor y de la ira con que Jehová estaba enojado contra vosotros hasta querer destruiros. Pero Jehová me escuchó una vez más.

Contra Aarón también se enojó mucho Jehová hasta querer destruirlo. Yo también oré por Aarón en aquel entonces.

Luego tomé el objeto de vuestro pecado, el becerro que habíais hecho, lo quemé en el fuego y lo desmenucé, moliéndolo muy bien, hasta que quedó reducido a polvo, y eché aquel polvo en el arroyo que descendía del monte.

»También en Tabera, en Masah y en Kibrot-hataava provocasteis a ira a Jehová.

Y cuando desde Cades-barnea Jehová os mandó: “Subid y poseed la tierra que yo os he dado”, también fuisteis rebeldes al mandato de Jehová, vuestro Dios, y no le creísteis ni obedecisteis a su voz.

Rebeldes habéis sido a Jehová desde el día en que yo os conozco.

»Me postré, pues, delante de Jehová; cuarenta días y cuarenta noches estuve postrado, porque Jehová dijo que os había de destruir.

Y oré a Jehová diciendo: Señor Jehová, no destruyas a tu pueblo, a la heredad que has redimido con tu grandeza y que sacaste de Egipto con mano poderosa.

Acuérdate de tus siervos Abraham, Isaac y Jacob; no mires la dureza de este pueblo, su impiedad ni su pecado,

no sea que digan los de la tierra de donde nos sacaste: “Por cuanto no pudo Jehová introducirlos en la tierra que les había prometido, o porque los aborrecía, los sacó para matarlos en el desierto.”

Ellos son tu pueblo, la heredad que sacaste con tu gran poder y con tu brazo extendido.

Subió Moisés de los campos de Moab al monte Nebo, a la cumbre del Pisga, que está enfrente de Jericó, y le mostró Jehová toda la tierra de Galaad hasta Dan,

todo Neftalí, la tierra de Efraín y de Manasés, toda la tierra de Judá hasta el mar occidental,

el Neguev, el valle y la llanura de Jericó, ciudad de las palmeras, hasta Zoar.

Y le dijo Jehová:

«Ésta es la tierra que prometí a Abraham, a Isaac y a Jacob, diciendo: “A tu descendencia la daré.” Te he permitido verla con tus ojos, pero no pasarás allá.»

Allí murió Moisés, siervo de Jehová, en la tierra de Moab, conforme al dicho de Jehová.

Y lo enterró en el valle, en la tierra de Moab, enfrente de Bet-peor, y ninguno conoce el lugar de su sepultura hasta hoy.

Tenía Moisés ciento veinte años de edad cuando murió; sus ojos nunca se oscurecieron, ni perdió su vigor.

Lloraron los hijos de Israel a Moisés en los campos de Moab treinta días; así se cumplieron los días de llanto y de luto por Moisés.

Josué hijo de Nun estaba lleno del espíritu de sabiduría, porque Moisés había puesto sus manos sobre él, y los hijos de Israel lo obedecieron haciendo como Jehová mandó a Moisés.

Nunca más se levantó un profeta en Israel como Moisés, a quien Jehová conoció cara a cara;

nadie como él por todas las señales y prodigios que Jehová le envió a hacer en tierra de Egipto, contra el faraón y todos sus siervos, y contra toda su tierra,

y por el gran poder y los hechos grandiosos y terribles que Moisés hizo a la vista de todo Israel.

«Hear, O Israel: You are to cross over the Jordan today, and go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourself, cities great and fortified up to heaven,

a people great and tall, the descendants of the Anakim, whom you know, and of whom you heard it said, «Who can stand before the descendants of Anak?́

Therefore understand today that the LORD your God is He who goes over before you as a consuming fire. He will destroy them and bring them down before you; so you shall drive them out and destroy them quickly, as the LORD has said to you.

«Do not think in your heart, after the LORD your God has cast them out before you, saying, «Because of my righteousness the LORD has brought me in to possess this land́; but it is because of the wickedness of these nations that the LORD is driving them out from before you.

It is not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart that you go in to possess their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations that the LORD your God drives them out from before you, and that He may fulfill the word which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Therefore understand that the LORD your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are a stiff-necked people.

«Remember! Do not forget how you provoked the LORD your God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day that you departed from the land of Egypt until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against the LORD.

Also in Horeb you provoked the LORD to wrath, so that the LORD was angry enough with you to have destroyed you.

When I went up into the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights. I neither ate bread nor drank water.

Then the LORD delivered to me two tablets of stone written with the finger of God, and on them were all the words which the LORD had spoken to you on the mountain from the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.

And it came to pass, at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the LORD gave me the two tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant.

«Then the LORD said to me, «Arise, go down quickly from here, for your people whom you brought out of Egypt have acted corruptly; they have quickly turned aside from the way which I commanded them; they have made themselves a molded image.́

«Furthermore the LORD spoke to me, saying, «I have seen this people, and indeed they are a stiff-necked people.

Let Me alone, that I may destroy them and blot out their name from under heaven; and I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.́

«So I turned and came down from the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire; and the two tablets of the covenant were in my two hands.

And I looked, and behold, you had sinned against the LORD your God--had made for yourselves a molded calf! You had turned aside quickly from the way which the LORD had commanded you.

Then I took the two tablets and threw them out of my two hands and broke them before your eyes.

And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water, because of all your sin which you committed in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke Him to anger.

For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure with which the LORD was angry with you, to destroy you. But the LORD listened to me at that time also.

And the LORD was very angry with Aaron and would have destroyed him; so I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.

Then I took your sin, the calf which you had made, and burned it with fire and crushed it and ground it very small, until it was as fine as dust; and I threw its dust into the brook that descended from the mountain.

«Also at Taberah and Massah and Kibroth Hattaavah you provoked the LORD to wrath.

Likewise, when the LORD sent you from Kadesh Barnea, saying, «Go up and possess the land which I have given you,́ then you rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and you did not believe Him nor obey His voice.

You have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.

«Thus I prostrated myself before the LORD; forty days and forty nights I kept prostrating myself, because the LORD had said He would destroy you.

Therefore I prayed to the LORD, and said: «O Lord GOD, do not destroy Your people and Your inheritance whom You have redeemed through Your greatness, whom You have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

Remember Your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; do not look on the stubbornness of this people, or on their wickedness or their sin,

lest the land from which You brought us should say, «Because the LORD was not able to bring them to the land which He promised them, and because He hated them, He has brought them out to kill them in the wilderness.»

Yet they are Your people and Your inheritance, whom You brought out by Your mighty power and by Your outstretched arm.́

Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is across from Jericho. And the LORD showed him all the land of Gilead as far as Dan,

all Naphtali and the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Western Sea,

the South, and the plain of the Valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, as far as Zoar.

Then the LORD said to him, «This is the land of which I swore to give Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, «I will give it to your descendants.́ I have caused you to see it with your eyes, but you shall not cross over there.»

So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.

And He buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth Peor; but no one knows his grave to this day.

Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died. His eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor diminished.

And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days. So the days of weeping and mourning for Moses ended.

Now Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him; so the children of Israel heeded him, and did as the LORD had commanded Moses.

But since then there has not arisen in Israel a prophet like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,

in all the signs and wonders which the LORD sent him to do in the land of Egypt, before Pharaoh, before all his servants, and in all his land,

and by all that mighty power and all the great terror which Moses performed in the sight of all Israel.
