Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed.

Then Moses said, «I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.»

So when the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, «Moses, Moses!» And he said, «Here I am.»

Then He said, «Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.»

Moreover He said, «I am the God of your father--the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.» And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God.

And the LORD said: «I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.

So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites.

Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them.

Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.»

But Moses said to God, «Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?»

So He said, «I will certainly be with you. And this shall be a sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.»

Then Moses said to God, «Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, «The God of your fathers has sent me to you,́ and they say to me, «What is His name?́ what shall I say to them?»

And God said to Moses, «I AM WHO I AM.» And He said, «Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, «I AM has sent me to you.»́

Moreover God said to Moses, «Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: «The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.́

Go and gather the elders of Israel together, and say to them, «The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared to me, saying, «I have surely visited you and seen what is done to you in Egypt;

and I have said I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, to a land flowing with milk and honey.»́

Then they will heed your voice; and you shall come, you and the elders of Israel, to the king of Egypt; and you shall say to him, «The LORD God of the Hebrews has met with us; and now, please, let us go three dayś journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.́

But I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not even by a mighty hand.

So I will stretch out My hand and strike Egypt with all My wonders which I will do in its midst; and after that he will let you go.

And I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians; and it shall be, when you go, that you shall not go empty-handed.

But every woman shall ask of her neighbor, namely, of her who dwells near her house, articles of silver, articles of gold, and clothing; and you shall put them on your sons and on your daughters. So you shall plunder the Egyptians.»

Моисей пас овец у Иофора, тестя своего, священника Мадиамского. Однажды провел он стадо далеко в пустыню и пришел к горе Божией, Хориву.

И явился ему Ангел Господень в пламени огня из среды тернового куста. И увидел он, что терновый куст горит огнем, но куст не сгорает.

Моисей сказал: пойду и посмотрю на сие великое явление, отчего куст не сгорает.

Господь увидел, что он идет смотреть, и воззвал к нему Бог из среды куста, и сказал: Моисей! Моисей! Он сказал: вот я, [Господи]!

И сказал Бог: не подходи сюда; сними обувь твою с ног твоих, ибо место, на котором ты стоишь, есть земля святая.

И сказал [ему]: Я Бог отца твоего, Бог Авраама, Бог Исаака и Бог Иакова. Моисей закрыл лице свое, потому что боялся воззреть на Бога.

И сказал Господь [Моисею]: Я увидел страдание народа Моего в Египте и услышал вопль его от приставников его; Я знаю скорби его

и иду избавить его от руки Египтян и вывести его из земли сей [и ввести его] в землю хорошую и пространную, где течет молоко и мед, в землю Хананеев, Хеттеев, Аморреев, Ферезеев, [Гергесеев,] Евеев и Иевусеев.

И вот, уже вопль сынов Израилевых дошел до Меня, и Я вижу угнетение, каким угнетают их Египтяне.

Итак пойди: Я пошлю тебя к фараону [царю Египетскому]; и выведи из Египта народ Мой, сынов Израилевых.

Моисей сказал Богу: кто я, чтобы мне идти к фараону [царю Египетскому] и вывести из Египта сынов Израилевых?

И сказал [Бог]: Я буду с тобою, и вот тебе знамение, что Я послал тебя: когда ты выведешь народ [Мой] из Египта, вы совершите служение Богу на этой горе.

И сказал Моисей Богу: вот, я приду к сынам Израилевым и скажу им: Бог отцов ваших послал меня к вам. А они скажут мне: как Ему имя? Что сказать мне им?

Бог сказал Моисею: Я есмь Сущий. И сказал: так скажи сынам Израилевым: Сущий [Иегова] послал меня к вам.

И сказал еще Бог Моисею: так скажи сынам Израилевым: Господь, Бог отцов ваших, Бог Авраама, Бог Исаака и Бог Иакова послал меня к вам. Вот имя Мое на веки, и памятование о Мне из рода в род.

Apacentando Moisés las ovejas de su suegro Jetro, sacerdote de Madián, llevó las ovejas a través del desierto y llegó hasta Horeb, monte de Dios.

Allí se le apareció el Ángel de Jehová en una llama de fuego, en medio de una zarza. Al fijarse, vio que la zarza ardía en fuego, pero la zarza no se consumía.

Entonces Moisés se dijo: «Iré ahora para contemplar esta gran visión, por qué causa la zarza no se quema.»

Cuando Jehová vio que él iba a mirar, lo llamó de en medio de la zarza:

—¡Moisés, Moisés!

—Aquí estoy —respondió él.

Dios le dijo:

—No te acerques; quita el calzado de tus pies, porque el lugar en que tú estás, tierra santa es.

Y añadió:

—Yo soy el Dios de tu padre, el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob.

Entonces Moisés cubrió su rostro, porque tuvo miedo de mirar a Dios.

Dijo luego Jehová:

—Bien he visto la aflicción de mi pueblo que está en Egipto, y he oído su clamor a causa de sus opresores, pues he conocido sus angustias.

Por eso he descendido para librarlos de manos de los egipcios y sacarlos de aquella tierra a una tierra buena y ancha, a una tierra que fluye leche y miel, a los lugares del cananeo, del heteo, del amorreo, del ferezeo, del heveo y del jebuseo.

El clamor, pues, de los hijos de Israel ha llegado ante mí, y también he visto la opresión con que los egipcios los oprimen.

Ven, por tanto, ahora, y te enviaré al faraón para que saques de Egipto a mi pueblo, a los hijos de Israel.

Entonces Moisés respondió a Dios:

—¿Quién soy yo para que vaya al faraón y saque de Egipto a los hijos de Israel?

Dios le respondió:

—Yo estaré contigo; y esto te será por señal de que yo te he enviado: cuando hayas sacado de Egipto al pueblo, serviréis a Dios sobre este monte.

Dijo Moisés a Dios:

—Si voy a los hijos de Israel y les digo: “Jehová, el Dios de vuestros padres, me ha enviado a vosotros”, me preguntarán: “¿Cuál es su nombre?” Entonces ¿qué les responderé?

Respondió Dios a Moisés:

—“Yo soy el que soy.”

Y añadió:

—Así dirás a los hijos de Israel: “‘Yo soy’ me envió a vosotros.”

Además, Dios dijo a Moisés:

—Así dirás a los hijos de Israel: “Jehová, el Dios de vuestros padres, el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob, me ha enviado a vosotros.” Éste es mi nombre para siempre; con él se me recordará por todos los siglos.

Ve, reúne a los ancianos de Israel y diles: “Jehová, el Dios de vuestros padres, el Dios de Abraham, de Isaac y de Jacob, se me apareció y me dijo: En verdad os he visitado y he visto lo que se os hace en Egipto.

Y he dicho: Yo os sacaré de la aflicción de Egipto a la tierra del cananeo, del heteo, del amorreo, del ferezeo, del heveo y del jebuseo, a una tierra que fluye leche y miel.”

Ellos oirán tu voz; tú irás con los ancianos de Israel al rey de Egipto y le dirás: “Jehová, el Dios de los hebreos, se nos ha manifestado; por tanto, nosotros iremos ahora tres días de camino por el desierto a ofrecer sacrificios a Jehová, nuestro Dios.”

Yo sé que el rey de Egipto no os dejará ir sino por la fuerza.

Pero yo extenderé mi mano y heriré a Egipto con todas las maravillas que obraré en el país, y entonces os dejará ir.

Yo haré que este pueblo halle gracia a los ojos de los egipcios, para que cuando salgáis no vayáis con las manos vacías,

sino que cada mujer pedirá a su vecina, y a la que se hospeda en su casa, alhajas de plata, alhajas de oro y vestidos, los cuales pondréis sobre vuestros hijos y vuestras hijas. Así despojaréis a los egipcios.
