Отвѣща́въ же Валда́дъ Савхе́йскiй, рече́: что́ бо нача́ло, а́ще не стра́хъ от него́, и́же твори́тъ вся́ческая въ вы́шнихъ? Да никто́же бо мни́тъ, я́ко е́сть умедле́нiе во́инствомъ: и на кого́ не на́йдетъ навѣ́тъ от него́? Ка́ко бо бу́детъ пра́веденъ человѣ́къ предъ Бо́гомъ? или́ кто́ очи́ститъ себе́ рожде́нный от жены́? А́ще лунѣ́ повелѣва́етъ, и не сiя́етъ, звѣ́зды же нечи́сты су́ть предъ ни́мъ, кольми́ па́че человѣ́къ гно́й, и сы́нъ человѣ́ческiй че́рвь.

И отвечал Вилдад Савхеянин и сказал: держава и страх у Него; Он творит мир на высотах Своих! Есть ли счет воинствам Его? и над кем не восходит свет Его? И как человеку быть правым пред Богом, и как быть чистым рожденному женщиною? Вот даже луна, и та несветла, и звезды нечисты пред очами Его. Тем менее человек, который есть червь, и сын человеческий, который есть моль.

Bildad de Schuach prit la parole et dit: La puissance et la terreur appartiennent à Dieu; Il fait régner la paix dans ses hautes régions. Ses armées ne sont-elles pas innombrables? Sur qui sa lumière ne se lève-t-elle pas? Comment l'homme serait-il juste devant Dieu? Comment celui qui est né de la femme serait-il pur? Voici, la lune même n'est pas brillante, Et les étoiles ne sont pas pures à ses yeux; Combien moins l'homme, qui n'est qu'un ver, Le fils de l'homme, qui n'est qu'un vermisseau!

Then Bildad the Shuhite answered and said: «Dominion and fear belong to Him; He makes peace in His high places. Is there any number to His armies? Upon whom does His light not rise? How then can man be righteous before God? Or how can he be pure who is born of a woman? If even the moon does not shine, And the stars are not pure in His sight, How much less man, who is a maggot, And a son of man, who is a worm?»
