И разгнѣ́вася я́ростiю Госпо́дь на Изра́иля и предаде́ и́хъ въ ру́ки хусарсаѳе́ма царя́ Месопота́мiи Си́рскiя: и рабо́таша сы́нове Изра́илевы хусарсаѳе́му лѣ́тъ о́смь.

И возопи́ша сы́нове Изра́илевы ко Го́споду. И возста́ви Госпо́дь спаси́теля Изра́илю, и спасе́ и́хъ, Гоѳонiи́ла, сы́на Кене́за бра́та хале́вова юнѣ́йшаго его́.

И бы́сть на не́мъ Ду́хъ Госпо́день, и суди́ Изра́иля. И изы́де на ра́ть къ хусарсаѳе́му: и предаде́ Госпо́дь въ ру́цѣ его́ хусарсаѳе́ма царя́ Си́рска, и укрѣпи́ся рука́ его́ надъ хусарсаѳе́момъ.

И собра́ къ себѣ́ вся́ сы́ны Аммо́ни и Амали́ковы: и и́де, и порази́ Изра́иля, и взя́ гра́дъ фи́ническъ.

И рабо́таша сы́нове Изра́илевы егло́му царю́ Моа́влю лѣ́тъ осмьна́десять.

И и́де, и принесе́ да́ры егло́му царю́ Моа́влю: егло́мъ же му́жъ добротѣле́сенъ бѣ́ зѣло́.

И бы́сть егда́ сконча́ Ао́дъ принося́ да́ры, и отсла́ нося́щихъ да́ры:

и егло́мъ обрати́ся от и́долъ и́же въ Галга́лѣхъ. И рече́ Ао́дъ: сло́во мнѣ́ е́сть къ тебѣ́ та́йно, царю́. И рече́ егло́мъ къ нему́: молчи́. И отсла́ от себе́ всѣ́хъ предстоя́щихъ предъ ни́мъ.

И Ао́дъ вни́де къ нему́. Се́й же сѣдя́ше въ го́рницѣ лѣ́тнѣй свое́й еди́нъ. И рече́ Ао́дъ: сло́во Бо́жiе мнѣ́ къ тебѣ́, царю́. И воста́ егло́мъ со престо́ла бли́зъ его́.

И бы́сть егда́ воста́, и простре́ Ао́дъ ру́ку лѣ́вую свою́, и извлече́ но́жъ, и́же надъ стегно́мъ его́ десны́мъ, и вонзе́ во чре́во егло́мово:

и вти́сне и рукоя́ть за о́стрiемъ, и заключи́ ту́къ за о́стрiемъ, я́ко не извлече́ ножа́ изъ чре́ва его́, [и изы́де лайно́].

И изы́де Ао́дъ въ притво́ръ, и про́йде стрегу́щихъ, и затвори́ две́ри го́рницы за собо́ю и заключи́,

и са́мъ изы́де. И раби́ его́ прiидо́ша и узрѣ́ша, и се́, две́ри го́рницы заключе́ны, и рѣ́ша: еда́ у потре́бы сѣди́тъ во отлуче́нiи ло́жа?

И прежда́ша до́ндеже посрами́шася: и се́, не бы́сть отверза́яй две́ри го́рницы. И взя́ша клю́чь, и отверзо́ша: и се́, господи́нъ и́хъ лежи́тъ на земли́ ме́ртвъ.

И Ао́дъ спасе́ся внегда́ смуща́хуся, и не бѣ́ помышля́ющаго о не́мъ: а о́нъ пре́йде и́долы, и спасе́ся въ сетиро́ѳѣ.

И бы́сть егда́ прiи́де Ао́дъ въ зе́млю Изра́илеву, и воструби́ ро́гомъ въ горѣ́ Ефре́мли: и снидо́ша съ ни́мъ съ горы́ сы́нове Изра́илевы, и то́й предъ ни́ми.

И рече́ къ ни́мъ: иди́те вслѣ́дъ мене́, я́ко предаде́ Госпо́дь Бо́гъ враги́ на́шя Моа́вляны въ ру́ки на́шя. И идо́ша вслѣ́дъ его́, и предвзя́ша прехо́ды Иорда́на Моа́вля, и ни еди́ному му́жу попусти́ша преити́.

Тогда возопили сыны Израилевы к Господу, и воздвигнул Господь спасителя сынам Израилевым, который спас их, Гофониила, сына Кеназа, младшего брата Халевова.

На нем был Дух Господень, и был он судьею Израиля. Он вышел на войну [против Хусарсафема], и предал Господь в руки его Хусарсафема, царя Месопотамского, и преодолела рука его Хусарсафема.

И покоилась земля сорок лет. И умер Гофониил, сын Кеназа.

Сыны Израилевы опять стали делать злое пред очами Господа, и укрепил Господь Еглона, царя Моавитского, против Израильтян, за то, что они делали злое пред очами Господа.

Он собрал к себе [всех] Аммонитян и Амаликитян, и пошел и поразил Израиля, и овладели они городом Пальм.

И служили сыны Израилевы Еглону, царю Моавитскому, восемнадцать лет.

Тогда возопили сыны Израилевы к Господу, и Господь воздвигнул им спасителя Аода, сына Геры, сына Иеминиева, который был левша. И послали сыны Израилевы с ним дары Еглону, царю Моавитскому.

Аод сделал себе меч с двумя остриями, длиною в локоть, и припоясал его под плащом своим к правому бедру,

[и пришел,] и поднес дары Еглону, царю Моавитскому; Еглон же был человек очень тучный.

Когда поднес Аод все дары и проводил людей, принесших дары,

то сам возвратился от истуканов, которые в Галгале, и сказал: у меня есть тайное слово до тебя, царь. Он сказал: тише! И вышли от него все стоявшие при нем.

Аод вошел к нему: он сидел в прохладной горнице, которая была у него отдельно. И сказал Аод: у меня есть до тебя, [царь,] слово Божие. [Еглон] встал со стула [пред ним].

[Когда он встал,] Аод простер левую руку свою и взял меч с правого бедра своего и вонзил его в чрево его,

так что вошла за острием и рукоять, и тук закрыл острие, ибо Аод не вынул меча из чрева его, и он прошел в задние части.

И вышел Аод в преддверие, и затворил за собою двери горницы, и замкнул.

Когда он вышел, рабы Еглона пришли и видят, вот, двери горницы замкнуты, и говорят: верно он для нужды в прохладной комнате.

Ждали довольно долго, но видя, что никто не отпирает дверей горницы, взяли ключ и отперли, и вот, господин их лежит на земле мертвый.

Пока они недоумевали, Аод между тем ушел, [и никто о нем не думал,] прошел мимо истуканов и спасся в Сеираф.

Придя же [в землю Израилеву, Аод] вострубил трубою на горе Ефремовой, и сошли с ним сыны Израилевы с горы, и он шел впереди их.

И сказал им: идите за мною, ибо предал Господь [Бог] врагов ваших Моавитян в руки ваши. И пошли за ним, и перехватили переправу через Иордан к Моаву, и не давали никому переходить.

И побили в то время Моавитян около десяти тысяч человек, всё здоровых и сильных, и никто не убежал.

Так смирились в тот день Моавитяне пред Израилем, и покоилась земля восемьдесят лет. [И был Аод судьею их до самой смерти.]

После него был Самегар, сын Анафов, который шестьсот человек Филистимлян побил воловьим рожном; и он также спас Израиля.

Éstos son los pueblos que dejó Jehová para probar con ellos a todos los que en Israel no habían conocido todas la guerras de Canaán;

solamente para que el linaje de los hijos de Israel aprendiera cómo hacer la guerra, y lo enseñara a quienes antes no la habían conocido:

los cinco príncipes de los filisteos, todos los cananeos, los sidonios y los heveos que habitaban en el monte Líbano, desde el monte Baal-hermón hasta llegar a Hamat.

Con ellos quiso probar a Israel, para saber si obedecería los mandamientos que él había dado a sus padres por mano de Moisés.

Así, los hijos de Israel comenzaron a habitar entre los cananeos, heteos, amorreos, ferezeos, heveos y jebuseos.

Y tomaron a sus hijas por mujeres, y dieron sus hijas a los hijos de ellos, y sirvieron a sus dioses.

Hicieron, pues, los hijos de Israel lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, su Dios, se olvidaron de él y sirvieron a los baales y a las imágenes de Asera.

Por eso la ira de Jehová se encendió contra ellos y los entregó en manos de Cusan-risataim, rey de Mesopotamia, al cual sirvieron durante ocho años.

Entonces clamaron los hijos de Israel a Jehová, y Jehová levantó un libertador a los hijos de Israel y los libró; esto es, a Otoniel hijo de Cenaz, hermano menor de Caleb.

El espíritu de Jehová vino sobre Otoniel, quien juzgó a Israel y salió a la batalla. Jehová entregó en sus manos a Cusan-risataim, rey de Siria, y le dio la victoria sobre Cusan-risataim.

Y hubo paz en la tierra durante cuarenta años; y murió Otoniel hijo de Cenaz.

Tras mucho esperar, y confusos porque el rey no abría las puertas de la sala, tomaron la llave, abrieron y encontraron a su señor caído en tierra, muerto.

Mientras ellos esperaban, Aod escapó y, pasando los ídolos, se puso a salvo en Seirat.

Cuando entró en Israel, tocó el cuerno en los montes de Efraín y los hijos de Israel descendieron con él del monte. Entonces Aod se puso al frente de ellos.

Y les dijo:

«Seguidme, porque Jehová ha entregado a vuestros enemigos moabitas en vuestras manos.»

Ellos descendieron en pos de él, le quitaron a Moab los vados del Jordán y no dejaron pasar a nadie.

Mataron en aquel tiempo como a diez mil moabitas, todos valientes y todos hombres de guerra; no escapó ni uno.

Now these are the nations which the LORD left, that He might test Israel by them, that is, all who had not known any of the wars in Canaan

(this was only so that the generations of the children of Israel might be taught to know war, at least those who had not formerly known it),

namely, five lords of the Philistines, all the Canaanites, the Sidonians, and the Hivites who dwelt in Mount Lebanon, from Mount Baal Hermon to the entrance of Hamath.

And they were left, that He might test Israel by them, to know whether they would obey the commandments of the LORD, which He had commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.

Thus the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

And they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons; and they served their gods.

So the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD. They forgot the LORD their God, and served the Baals and Asherahs.

Therefore the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and He sold them into the hand of Cushan-Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia; and the children of Israel served Cushan-Rishathaim eight years.

When the children of Israel cried out to the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer for the children of Israel, who delivered them: Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb́s younger brother.

The Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he judged Israel. He went out to war, and the LORD delivered Cushan-Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed over Cushan-Rishathaim.

So the land had rest for forty years. Then Othniel the son of Kenaz died.

And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the LORD. So the LORD strengthened Eglon king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil in the sight of the LORD.

Then he gathered to himself the people of Ammon and Amalek, went and defeated Israel, and took possession of the City of Palms.

So the children of Israel served Eglon king of Moab eighteen years.

But when the children of Israel cried out to the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer for them: Ehud the son of Gera, the Benjamite, a left-handed man. By him the children of Israel sent tribute to Eglon king of Moab.

Now Ehud made himself a dagger (it was double-edged and a cubit in length) and fastened it under his clothes on his right thigh.

So he brought the tribute to Eglon king of Moab. (Now Eglon was a very fat man.)

And when he had finished presenting the tribute, he sent away the people who had carried the tribute.

But he himself turned back from the stone images that were at Gilgal, and said, «I have a secret message for you, O king.» He said, «Keep silence!» And all who attended him went out from him.

So Ehud came to him (now he was sitting upstairs in his cool private chamber). Then Ehud said, «I have a message from God for you.» So he arose from his seat.

Then Ehud reached with his left hand, took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly.

Even the hilt went in after the blade, and the fat closed over the blade, for he did not draw the dagger out of his belly; and his entrails came out.

Then Ehud went out through the porch and shut the doors of the upper room behind him and locked them.

When he had gone out, Eglońs servants came to look, and to their surprise, the doors of the upper room were locked. So they said, «He is probably attending to his needs in the cool chamber.»

So they waited till they were embarrassed, and still he had not opened the doors of the upper room. Therefore they took the key and opened them. And there was their master, fallen dead on the floor.

But Ehud had escaped while they delayed, and passed beyond the stone images and escaped to Seirah.

And it happened, when he arrived, that he blew the trumpet in the mountains of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the mountains; and he led them.

Then he said to them, «Follow me, for the LORD has delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand.» So they went down after him, seized the fords of the Jordan leading to Moab, and did not allow anyone to cross over.

And at that time they killed about ten thousand men of Moab, all stout men of valor; not a man escaped.

So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land had rest for eighty years.

After him was Shamgar the son of Anath, who killed six hundred men of the Philistines with an ox goad; and he also delivered Israel.
