И бы́ша лю́дiе ро́пщуще зла́я предъ Го́сподемъ: и слы́ша Госпо́дь и разгнѣ́вася гнѣ́вомъ, и разгорѣ́ся въ ни́хъ о́гнь от Го́спода и потреби́ ча́сть нѣ́кую от полка́.

Народ стал роптать вслух Господа; и Господь услышал, и воспламенился гнев Его, и возгорелся у них огонь Господень, и начал истреблять край стана.

И возопил народ к Моисею; и помолился Моисей Господу, и утих огонь.

И нарекли имя месту сему: Тавера*, потому что возгорелся у них огонь Господень. //*Горение.

Пришельцы между ними стали обнаруживать прихоти; а с ними и сыны Израилевы сидели и плакали и говорили: кто накормит нас мясом?

Мы помним рыбу, которую в Египте мы ели даром, огурцы и дыни, и лук, и репчатый лук и чеснок;

а ныне душа наша изнывает; ничего нет, только манна в глазах наших.

Манна же была подобна кориандровому семени, видом, как бдолах;

народ ходил и собирал ее, и молол в жерновах или толок в ступе, и варил в котле, и делал из нее лепешки; вкус же ее подобен был вкусу лепешек с елеем.

И когда роса сходила на стан ночью, тогда сходила на него и манна.

Моисей слышал, что народ плачет в семействах своих, каждый у дверей шатра своего; и сильно воспламенился гнев Господень, и прискорбно было для Моисея.

И сказал Моисей Господу: для чего Ты мучишь раба Твоего? и почему я не нашел милости пред очами Твоими, что Ты возложил на меня бремя всего народа сего?

разве я носил во чреве весь народ сей, и разве я родил его, что Ты говоришь мне: неси его на руках твоих, как нянька носит ребенка, в землю, которую Ты с клятвою обещал отцам его?

откуда мне взять мяса, чтобы дать всему народу сему? ибо они плачут предо мною и говорят: дай нам есть мяса.

Я один не могу нести всего народа сего, потому что он тяжел для меня;

когда Ты так поступаешь со мною, то лучше умертви меня, если я нашел милость пред очами Твоими, чтобы мне не видеть бедствия моего.

И сказал Господь Моисею: собери Мне семьдесят мужей из старейшин Израилевых, которых ты знаешь, что они старейшины и надзиратели его, и возьми их к скинии собрания, чтобы они стали там с тобою;

Я сойду, и буду говорить там с тобою, и возьму от Духа, Который на тебе, и возложу на них, чтобы они несли с тобою бремя народа, а не один ты носил.

Народу же скажи: очиститесь к завтрашнему дню, и будете есть мясо; так как вы плакали вслух Господа и говорили: кто накормит нас мясом? хорошо нам было в Египте, – то и даст вам Господь мясо, и будете есть [мясо]:

не один день будете есть, не два дня, не пять дней, не десять дней и не двадцать дней,

но целый месяц [будете есть], пока не пойдет оно из ноздрей ваших и не сделается для вас отвратительным, за то, что вы презрели Господа, Который среди вас, и плакали пред Ним, говоря: для чего было нам выходить из Египта?

И сказал Моисей: шестьсот тысяч пеших в народе сем, среди которого я нахожусь; а Ты говоришь: Я дам им мясо, и будут есть целый месяц!

заколоть ли всех овец и волов, чтобы им было довольно? или вся рыба морская соберется, чтобы удовлетворить их?

И сказал Господь Моисею: разве рука Господня коротка? ныне ты увидишь, сбудется ли слово Мое тебе, или нет?

Моисей вышел и сказал народу слова Господни, и собрал семьдесят мужей из старейшин народа и поставил их около скинии.

И сошел Господь в облаке, и говорил с ним, и взял от Духа, Который на нем, и дал семидесяти мужам старейшинам. И когда почил на них Дух, они стали пророчествовать, но потом перестали.

Двое из мужей оставались в стане, одному имя Елдад, а другому имя Модад; но и на них почил Дух [они были из числа записанных, только не выходили к скинии], и они пророчествовали в стане.

И прибежал отрок, и донес Моисею, и сказал: Елдад и Модад пророчествуют в стане.

В ответ на это Иисус, сын Навин, служитель Моисея, один из избранных его, сказал: господин мой Моисей! запрети им.

Но Моисей сказал ему: не ревнуешь ли ты за меня? о, если бы все в народе Господнем были пророками, когда бы Господь послал Духа Своего на них!

И возвратился Моисей в стан, он и старейшины Израилевы.

И поднялся ветер от Господа, и принес от моря перепелов, и набросал их около стана, на путь дня по одну сторону и на путь дня по другую сторону около стана, на два почти локтя от земли.

И встал народ, и весь тот день, и всю ночь, и весь следующий день собирали перепелов; и кто мало собирал, тот собрал десять хомеров; и разложили их для себя вокруг стана.

Мясо еще было в зубах их и не было еще съедено, как гнев Господень возгорелся на народ, и поразил Господь народ весьма великою язвою.

И нарекли имя месту сему: Киброт-Гаттаава*, ибо там похоронили прихотливый народ. //*Гробы прихоти.

От Киброт-Гаттаавы двинулся народ в Асироф, и остановился в Асирофе.

Aconteció que el pueblo se quejó a oídos de Jehová; lo oyó Jehová y ardió su ira. Se encendió entre ellos un fuego de Jehová que consumió uno de los extremos del campamento.

El pueblo clamó a Moisés, y Moisés oró a Jehová. Entonces el fuego se extinguió.

Por eso llamaron a aquel lugar Tabera, porque el fuego de Jehová se encendió en ellos.

La gente extranjera que se mezcló con ellos se dejó llevar por el hambre, y los hijos de Israel también volvieron a sus llantos, diciendo: «¡Quién nos diera a comer carne!

Nos acordamos del pescado que comíamos en Egipto de balde, de los pepinos, los melones, los puerros, las cebollas y los ajos.

¡Ahora nuestra alma se seca, pues nada sino este maná ven nuestros ojos!»

El maná era como semilla de culantro, y su color como color de bedelio.

El pueblo se esparcía y lo recogía, lo molía en molinos o lo majaba en morteros, y lo cocía en caldera o hacía de él tortas. Su sabor era como sabor de aceite nuevo.

Cuando descendía el rocío sobre el campamento de noche, el maná descendía sobre él.

Moisés oyó al pueblo que lloraba, cada uno con su familia a la entrada de su tienda. La ira de Jehová se encendió mucho, y también le pareció mal a Moisés,

quien dijo a Jehová:

—¿Por qué has hecho mal a tu siervo? ¿Y por qué no he hallado gracia a tus ojos, que has puesto la carga de todo este pueblo sobre mí?

¿Concebí yo a todo este pueblo? ¿Lo engendré yo, para que me digas: “Llévalo en tu seno, como lleva la que cría al que mama, a la tierra que juraste dar a sus padres”?

¿De dónde conseguiré yo carne para dar a todo este pueblo? Porque vienen a mí llorando y diciendo: “Danos carne para comer.”

No puedo yo solo soportar a todo este pueblo: es una carga demasiado pesada para mí.

Y si así vas a hacer tú conmigo, te ruego que me des muerte, si he hallado gracia a tus ojos, para que yo no vea mi mal.

Entonces Jehová dijo a Moisés:

—Reúneme a setenta hombres entre los ancianos de Israel, de los que tú sabes que son ancianos del pueblo y sus principales, tráelos a la puerta del Tabernáculo de reunión, y que esperen allí contigo.

Yo descenderé y hablaré allí contigo; tomaré del espíritu que está en ti y lo pondré en ellos, para que lleven contigo la carga del pueblo y no la lleves tú solo.

Pero al pueblo dirás: “Santificaos para mañana y comeréis carne, porque habéis llorado a oídos de Jehová, diciendo: ‘¡Quién nos diera a comer carne! ¡Ciertamente mejor nos iba en Egipto!’ Jehová, pues, os dará carne, y comeréis.

No comeréis un día, ni dos días, ni cinco días, ni diez días, ni veinte días,

sino hasta un mes entero, hasta que os salga por las narices y la aborrezcáis, por cuanto menospreciasteis a Jehová que está en medio de vosotros, y llorasteis delante de él, diciendo: ‘¿Para qué salimos acá de Egipto?’”

Entonces dijo Moisés:

—Seiscientos mil de a pie es el pueblo en medio del cual yo estoy, ¡y tú dices: “Les daré carne, y comerán un mes entero”!

¿Se degollarán para ellos ovejas y bueyes que les basten? ¿O se juntarán para ellos todos los peces del mar para que tengan lo suficiente?

Entonces Jehová respondió a Moisés:

—¿Acaso se ha acortado la mano de Jehová? Ahora verás si se cumple mi palabra, o no.

Salió Moisés y comunicó al pueblo las palabras de Jehová. Luego reunió a los setenta hombres entre los ancianos del pueblo, y los reunió alrededor del Tabernáculo.

Entonces Jehová descendió en la nube y le habló. Luego tomó del espíritu que estaba en él, y lo puso en los setenta hombres ancianos. Y en cuanto se posó sobre ellos el espíritu, profetizaron; pero no volvieron a hacerlo.

En el campamento habían quedado dos hombres, uno llamado Eldad y el otro Medad, sobre los cuales también reposó el espíritu. Estaban estos entre los inscritos, pero no habían venido al Tabernáculo. Y profetizaron en el campamento.

Un joven corrió a avisar a Moisés, y le dijo:

—Eldad y Medad profetizan en el campamento.

—Señor mío Moisés, no se lo permitas.

Moisés le respondió:

—¿Tienes tú celos por mí? Ojalá todo el pueblo de Jehová fuera profeta, y que Jehová pusiera su espíritu sobre ellos.

Luego Moisés volvió al campamento con los ancianos de Israel.

Entonces Jehová envió un viento que trajo codornices del mar y las dejó sobre el campamento, un día de camino de un lado y un día de camino del otro lado, alrededor del campamento, y casi dos codos sobre la superficie de la tierra.

El pueblo estuvo levantado todo aquel día y toda la noche y todo el día siguiente, recogiendo codornices. El que menos, recogió diez montones, y las tendieron a secar alrededor de todo el campamento.

Aún tenían la carne entre sus dientes, antes de haberla masticado, cuando la ira de Jehová se encendió contra el pueblo, y lo hirió Jehová con una plaga muy grande.

Y llamaron a aquel lugar Kibrot-hataava, por cuanto allí sepultaron al pueblo codicioso.

De Kibrot-hataava partió el pueblo a Hazerot, y se quedó en Hazerot.

Now when the people complained, it displeased the LORD; for the LORD heard it, and His anger was aroused. So the fire of the LORD burned among them, and consumed some in the outskirts of the camp.

Then the people cried out to Moses, and when Moses prayed to the LORD, the fire was quenched.

So he called the name of the place Taberah, because the fire of the LORD had burned among them.

Now the mixed multitude who were among them yielded to intense craving; so the children of Israel also wept again and said: «Who will give us meat to eat?

We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic;

but now our whole being is dried up; there is nothing at all except this manna before our eyes!»

Now the manna was like coriander seed, and its color like the color of bdellium.

The people went about and gathered it, ground it on millstones or beat it in the mortar, cooked it in pans, and made cakes of it; and its taste was like the taste of pastry prepared with oil.

And when the dew fell on the camp in the night, the manna fell on it.

Then Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, everyone at the door of his tent; and the anger of the LORD was greatly aroused; Moses also was displeased.

So Moses said to the LORD, «Why have You afflicted Your servant? And why have I not found favor in Your sight, that You have laid the burden of all these people on me?

Did I conceive all these people? Did I beget them, that You should say to me, «Carry them in your bosom, as a guardian carries a nursing child,́ to the land which You swore to their fathers?

Where am I to get meat to give to all these people? For they weep all over me, saying, «Give us meat, that we may eat.́

I am not able to bear all these people alone, because the burden is too heavy for me.

If You treat me like this, please kill me here and now--if I have found favor in Your sight--and do not let me see my wretchedness!»

So the LORD said to Moses: «Gather to Me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them; bring them to the tabernacle of meeting, that they may stand there with you.

Then I will come down and talk with you there. I will take of the Spirit that is upon you and will put the same upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you may not bear it yourself alone.

Then you shall say to the people, «Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, and you shall eat meat; for you have wept in the hearing of the LORD, saying, «Who will give us meat to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt.» Therefore the LORD will give you meat, and you shall eat.

You shall eat, not one day, nor two days, nor five days, nor ten days, nor twenty days,

but for a whole month, until it comes out of your nostrils and becomes loathsome to you, because you have despised the LORD who is among you, and have wept before Him, saying, «Why did we ever come up out of Egypt?»»́

And Moses said, «The people whom I am among are six hundred thousand men on foot; yet You have said, «I will give them meat, that they may eat for a whole month.́

Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, to provide enough for them? Or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to provide enough for them?»

And the LORD said to Moses, «Has the LORD́s arm been shortened? Now you shall see whether what I say will happen to you or not.»

So Moses went out and told the people the words of the LORD, and he gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people and placed them around the tabernacle.

Then the LORD came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was upon him, and placed the same upon the seventy elders; and it happened, when the Spirit rested upon them, that they prophesied, although they never did so again.

But two men had remained in the camp: the name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad. And the Spirit rested upon them. Now they were among those listed, but who had not gone out to the tabernacle; yet they prophesied in the camp.

And a young man ran and told Moses, and said, «Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.»

So Joshua the son of Nun, Moseś assistant, one of his choice men, answered and said, «Moses my lord, forbid them!»

Then Moses said to him, «Are you zealous for my sake? Oh, that all the LORD́s people were prophets and that the LORD would put His Spirit upon them!»

And Moses returned to the camp, he and the elders of Israel.

Now a wind went out from the LORD, and it brought quail from the sea and left them fluttering near the camp, about a daýs journey on this side and about a daýs journey on the other side, all around the camp, and about two cubits above the surface of the ground.

And the people stayed up all that day, all night, and all the next day, and gathered the quail (he who gathered least gathered ten homers); and they spread them out for themselves all around the camp.

But while the meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was aroused against the people, and the LORD struck the people with a very great plague.

So he called the name of that place Kibroth Hattaavah, because there they buried the people who had yielded to craving.

From Kibroth Hattaavah the people moved to Hazeroth, and camped at Hazeroth.
