Wine is a mocker, Strong drink is a brawler, And whoever is led astray by it is not wise.
The wrath of a king is like the roaring of a lion; Whoever provokes him to anger sins against his own life.
It is honorable for a man to stop striving, Since any fool can start a quarrel.
The lazy man will not plow because of winter; He will beg during harvest and have nothing.
Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water, But a man of understanding will draw it out.
Most men will proclaim each his own goodness, But who can find a faithful man?
The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed after him.
A king who sits on the throne of judgment Scatters all evil with his eyes.
Who can say, «I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin»?
Diverse weights and diverse measures, They are both alike, an abomination to the LORD.
Even a child is known by his deeds, Whether what he does is pure and right.
The hearing ear and the seeing eye, The LORD has made them both.
Do not love sleep, lest you come to poverty; Open your eyes, and you will be satisfied with bread.
«It is good for nothing,» cries the buyer; But when he has gone his way, then he boasts.
There is gold and a multitude of rubies, But the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.
Take the garment of one who is surety for a stranger, And hold it as a pledge when it is for a seductress.
Bread gained by deceit is sweet to a man, But afterward his mouth will be filled with gravel.
Plans are established by counsel; By wise counsel wage war.
He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets; Therefore do not associate with one who flatters with his lips.
Whoever curses his father or his mother, His lamp will be put out in deep darkness.
An inheritance gained hastily at the beginning Will not be blessed at the end.
Do not say, «I will recompense evil»; Wait for the LORD, and He will save you.
Diverse weights are an abomination to the LORD, And dishonest scales are not good.
A mańs steps are of the LORD; How then can a man understand his own way?
It is a snare for a man to devote rashly something as holy, And afterward to reconsider his vows.
A wise king sifts out the wicked, And brings the threshing wheel over them.
The spirit of a man is the lamp of the LORD, Searching all the inner depths of his heart.
Mercy and truth preserve the king, And by lovingkindness he upholds his throne.
The glory of young men is their strength, And the splendor of old men is their gray head.
Blows that hurt cleanse away evil, As do stripes the inner depths of the heart.

Егда́ ца́рь пра́веденъ на престо́лѣ ся́детъ, не проти́вится предъ очи́ма его́ ничто́же лука́во.
Кто́ похва́лится чи́сто имѣ́ти се́рдце? или́ кто́ де́рзнетъ рещи́ чи́ста себе́ бы́ти от грѣхо́въ?
Вѣ́съ вели́къ и ма́лъ, и мѣ́ра сугу́ба, нечи́ста предъ Го́сподемъ обоя́:
и творя́й я́ въ начина́нiихъ свои́хъ за́пнется: ю́нота съ преподо́бнымъ, и пра́вый пу́ть его́.
У́хо слы́шитъ, и о́ко ви́дитъ: Госпо́дня дѣла́ обоя́.
Не люби́ клевета́ти, да не вознесе́шися: отве́рзи о́чи твои́ и насыща́йся хлѣ́ба.
Зло́, зло́, рече́тъ стяжава́яй, и отше́дъ тогда́ похва́лится.
Е́сть зла́то и мно́жество ка́менiй драги́хъ, сосу́дъ че́стенъ устнѣ́ разу́мны.
Возми́ ри́зу его́, я́ко испору́чникъ бы́сть чужды́я, и за чужду́ю возми́ зало́гъ от него́.
Сла́докъ е́сть человѣ́ку хлѣ́бъ лжи́, но пото́мъ испо́лнятся уста́ его́ ка́менiя.
Помышле́нiе въ совѣ́тѣ угото́вится, въ правле́нiи же твори́тъ бра́нь.
Открыва́яй та́йну хо́дитъ ле́стiю: и прельща́ющему устна́ми свои́ми не примѣша́йся.
Злосло́вящему отца́ или́ ма́терь уга́снетъ свѣти́лникъ, зѣ́ницы же оче́съ его́ у́зрятъ тму́.
Ча́сть поспѣ́шна въ нача́лѣ, въ послѣ́днихъ не благослови́тся.
Не рцы́: отмщу́ врагу́: но потерпи́ Го́спода, да ти́ помо́жетъ.
Ме́рзость Го́сподеви сугу́бый вѣ́съ, и мѣ́рило лжи́во не добро́ предъ ни́мъ.
От Го́спода исправля́ются стопы́ му́жу: сме́ртный же ка́ко уразумѣ́етъ пути́ своя́?
Сѣ́ть му́жеви ско́ро нѣ́что от свои́хъ освяща́ти: по обѣ́тѣ бо раска́янiе быва́етъ.
Вѣ́ятель нечести́выхъ е́сть ца́рь му́дръ и наложи́тъ на ня́ ко́ло.
Свѣ́тъ Госпо́день дыха́нiе человѣ́комъ, и́же испыта́етъ та́йная утро́бы.
Ми́лостыня и и́стина сохране́нiе царю́, и объи́дутъ престо́лъ его́ въ пра́вдѣ.
Лѣ́пота [е́сть] ю́нымъ прему́дрость: сла́ва же ста́рымъ сѣди́ны.
Ра́ны и сокруше́нiя срѣта́ютъ злы́хъ, я́звы же въ сокро́вищихъ чре́ва.
Le vin est moqueur, les boissons fortes sont tumultueuses; Quiconque en fait excès n'est pas sage.
La terreur qu'inspire le roi est comme le rugissement d'un lion; Celui qui l'irrite pèche contre lui-même.
C'est une gloire pour l'homme de s'abstenir des querelles, Mais tout insensé se livre à l'emportement.
A cause du froid, le paresseux ne laboure pas; A la moisson, il voudrait récolter, mais il n'y a rien.
Les desseins dans le coeur de l'homme sont des eaux profondes, Mais l'homme intelligent sait y puiser.
Beaucoup de gens proclament leur bonté; Mais un homme fidèle, qui le trouvera?
Le juste marche dans son intégrité; Heureux ses enfants après lui!
Le roi assis sur le trône de la justice Dissipe tout mal par son regard.
Qui dira: J'ai purifié mon coeur, Je suis net de mon péché?
Deux sortes de poids, deux sortes d'épha, Sont l'un et l'autre en abomination à l'Éternel.
L'enfant laisse déjà voir par ses actions Si sa conduite sera pure et droite.
L'oreille qui entend, et l'oeil qui voit, C'est l'Éternel qui les a faits l'un et l'autre.
N'aime pas le sommeil, de peur que tu ne deviennes pauvre; Ouvre les yeux, tu seras rassasié de pain.
Mauvais! mauvais! dit l'acheteur; Et en s'en allant, il se félicite.
Il y a de l'or et beaucoup de perles; Mais les lèvres savantes sont un objet précieux.
Prends son vêtement, car il a cautionné autrui; Exige de lui des gages, à cause des étrangers.
Le pain du mensonge est doux à l'homme, Et plus tard sa bouche est remplie de gravier.
Les projets s'affermissent par le conseil; Fais la guerre avec prudence.
Celui qui répand la calomnie dévoile les secrets; Ne te mêle pas avec celui qui ouvre ses lèvres.
Si quelqu'un maudit son père et sa mère, Sa lampe s'éteindra au milieu des ténèbres.
Un héritage promptement acquis dès l'origine Ne sera pas béni quand viendra la fin.
Ne dis pas: Je rendrai le mal. Espère en l'Éternel, et il te délivrera.
L'Éternel a en horreur deux sortes de poids, Et la balance fausse n'est pas une chose bonne.
C'est l'Éternel qui dirige les pas de l'homme, Mais l'homme peut-il comprendre sa voie?
C'est un piège pour l'homme que de prendre à la légère un engagement sacré, Et de ne réfléchir qu'après avoir fait un voeu.
Un roi sage dissipe les méchants, Et fait passer sur eux la roue.
Le souffle de l'homme est une lampe de l'Éternel; Il pénètre jusqu'au fond des entrailles.
La bonté et la fidélité gardent le roi, Et il soutient son trône par la bonté.
La force est la gloire des jeunes gens, Et les cheveux blancs sont l'ornement des vieillards.
Les plaies d'une blessure sont un remède pour le méchant; De même les coups qui pénètrent jusqu'au fond des entrailles.

اَلْخَمْرُ مُسْتَهْزِئَةٌ. الْمُسْكِرُ عَجَّاجٌ، وَمَنْ يَتَرَنَّحُ بِهِمَا فَلَيْسَ بِحَكِيمٍ.
رُعْبُ الْمَلِكِ كَزَمْجَرَةِ الأَسَدِ. الَّذِي يُغِيظُهُ يُخْطِئُ إِلَى نَفْسِهِ.
مَجْدُ الرَّجُلِ أَنْ يَبْتَعِدَ عَنِ الْخِصَامِ، وَكُلُّ أَحْمَقَ يُنَازِعُ.
اَلْكَسْلاَنُ لاَ يَحْرُثُ بِسَبَبِ الشِّتَاءِ، فَيَسْتَعْطِي فِي الْحَصَادِ وَلاَ يُعْطَى.
اَلْمَشُورَةُ فِي قَلْبِ الرَّجُلِ مِيَاهٌ عَمِيقَةٌ، وَذُو الْفِطْنَةِ يَسْتَقِيهَا.
أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ يُنَادُونَ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ بِصَلاَحِهِ، أَمَّا الرَّجُلُ الأَمِينُ فَمَنْ يَجِدُهُ؟
اَلصِّدِّيقُ يَسْلُكُ بِكَمَالِهِ. طُوبَى لِبَنِيهِ بَعْدَهُ.
اَلْمَلِكُ الْجَالِسُ عَلَى كُرْسِيِّ الْقَضَاءِ يُذَرِّي بِعَيْنِهِ كُلَّ شَرّ.
مَنْ يَقُولُ: «إِنِّي زَكَّيْتُ قَلْبِي، تَطَهَّرْتُ مِنْ خَطِيَّتِي»؟
مِعْيَارٌ فَمِعْيَارٌ، مِكْيَالٌ فَمِكْيَالٌ، كِلاَهُمَا مَكْرَهَةٌ عِنْدَ الرَّبِّ.
اَلْوَلَدُ أَيْضًا يُعْرَفُ بِأَفْعَالِهِ، هَلْ عَمَلُهُ نَقِيٌّ وَمُسْتَقِيمٌ؟
اَلأُذُنُ السَّامِعَةُ وَالْعَيْنُ الْبَاصِرَةُ، الرَّبُّ صَنَعَهُمَا كِلْتَيْهِمَا.
لاَ تُحِبَّ النَّوْمَ لِئَلاَّ تَفْتَقِرَ. افْتَحْ عَيْنَيْكَ تَشْبَعْ خُبْزًا.
«رَدِيءٌ، رَدِيءٌ!» يَقُولُ الْمُشْتَرِي، وَإِذَا ذَهَبَ فَحِينَئِذٍ يَفْتَخِرُ!
يُوجَدُ ذَهَبٌ وَكَثْرَةُ لآلِئَ، أَمَّا شِفَاهُ الْمَعْرِفَةِ فَمَتَاعٌ ثَمِينٌ.
خُذْ ثَوْبَهُ لأَنَّهُ ضَمِنَ غَرِيبًا، وَلأَجْلِ الأَجَانِبِ ارْتَهِنْ مِنْهُ.
خُبْزُ الْكَذِبِ لَذِيذٌ لِلإِنْسَانِ، وَمِنْ بَعْدُ يَمْتَلِئُ فَمُهُ حَصًى.
اَلْمَقَاصِدُ تُثَبَّتُ بِالْمَشُورَةِ، وَبِالتَّدَابِيرِ اعْمَلْ حَرْبًا.
اَلسَّاعِي بِالْوِشَايَةِ يُفْشِي السِّرَّ، فَلاَ تُخَالِطِ الْمُفَتِّحَ شَفَتَيْهِ.
مَنْ سَبَّ أَبَاهُ أَوْ أُمَّهُ يَنْطَفِئُ سِرَاجُهُ فِي حَدَقَةِ الظَّلاَمِ.
رُبَّ مُلْكٍ مُعَجِّل فِي أَوَّلِهِ، أَمَّا آخِرَتُهُ فَلاَ تُبَارَكُ.
لاَ تَقُلْ: «إِنِّي أُجَازِي شَرًّا». انْتَظِرِ الرَّبَّ فَيُخَلِّصَكَ.
مِعْيَارٌ فَمِعْيَارٌ مَكْرَهَةُ الرَّبِّ، وَمَوَازِينُ الْغِشِّ غَيْرُ صَالِحَةٍ.
مِنَ الرَّبِّ خَطَوَاتُ الرَّجُلِ، أَمَّا الإِنْسَانُ فَكَيْفَ يَفْهَمُ طَرِيقَهُ؟
هُوَ شَرَكٌ لِلإِنْسَانِ أَنْ يَلْغُوَ قَائِلاً: «مُقَدَّسٌ»، وَبَعْدَ النَّذْرِ أَنْ يَسْأَلَ!
اَلْمَلِكُ الْحَكِيمُ يُشَتِّتُ الأَشْرَارَ، وَيَرُدُّ عَلَيْهِمِ النَّوْرَجَ.
نَفْسُ الإِنْسَانِ سِرَاجُ الرَّبِّ، يُفَتِّشُ كُلَّ مَخَادِعِ الْبَطْنِ.
الرَّحْمَةُ وَالْحَقُّ يَحْفَظَانِ الْمَلِكَ، وَكُرْسِيُّهُ يُسْنَدُ بِالرَّحْمَةِ.
فَخْرُ الشُّبَّانِ قُوَّتُهُمْ، وَبَهَاءُ الشُّيُوخِ الشَّيْبُ.
حُبُرُ جُرْحٍ مُنَقِّيَةٌ لِلشِّرِّيرِ، وَضَرَبَاتٌ بَالِغَةٌ مَخَادِعَ الْبَطْنِ.
