My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands;

For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you.

Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart,

And so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;

In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil.

It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.

Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase;

So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.

My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor detest His correction;

For whom the LORD loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.

Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding;

For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, And her gain than fine gold.

She is more precious than rubies, And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her.

Length of days is in her right hand, In her left hand riches and honor.

Her ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace.

She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are all who retain her.

The LORD by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding He established the heavens;

By His knowledge the depths were broken up, And clouds drop down the dew.

My son, let them not depart from your eyes-- Keep sound wisdom and discretion;

So they will be life to your soul And grace to your neck.

Then you will walk safely in your way, And your foot will not stumble.

When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet.

Do not be afraid of sudden terror, Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes;

For the LORD will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught.

Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in the power of your hand to do so.

Do not say to your neighbor, «Go, and come back, And tomorrow I will give it,» When you have it with you.

Do not devise evil against your neighbor, For he dwells by you for safetýs sake.

Do not strive with a man without cause, If he has done you no harm.

Do not envy the oppressor, And choose none of his ways;

For the perverse person is an abomination to the LORD, But His secret counsel is with the upright.

The curse of the LORD is on the house of the wicked, But He blesses the home of the just.

Surely He scorns the scornful, But gives grace to the humble.

The wise shall inherit glory, But shame shall be the legacy of fools.

Сы́не, мои́хъ зако́новъ не забыва́й, глаго́лы же моя́ да соблюда́етъ твое́ се́рдце:

долготу́ бо житiя́ и лѣ́та жи́зни и ми́ръ приложа́тъ тебѣ́.

Ми́лостыни и вѣ́ра да не оскудѣва́ютъ тебѣ́: обложи́ же я́ на твое́й вы́и и напиши́ я́ на скрижа́ли се́рдца твоего́: и обря́щеши благода́ть.

И промышля́й до́брая предъ Го́сподемъ [Бо́гомъ] и человѣ́ки.

Бу́ди упова́я всѣ́мъ се́рдцемъ на Бо́га, о твое́й же прему́дрости не возноси́ся:

во всѣ́хъ путе́хъ твои́хъ познава́й ю́, да исправля́етъ пути́ твоя́.

Не бу́ди му́дръ о себѣ́: бо́йся же Бо́га и уклоня́йся от вся́каго зла́:

тогда́ исцѣле́нiе бу́детъ тѣ́лу твоему́ и уврачева́нiе косте́мъ твои́мъ.

Чти́ Го́спода от пра́ведныхъ твои́хъ трудо́въ и нача́тки дава́й ему́ от твои́хъ плодо́въ пра́вды:

да испо́лнятся жи́тницы твоя́ мно́жествомъ пшени́цы, вино́ же точи́ла твоя́ да источа́ютъ.

Сы́не, не пренебрега́й наказа́нiя Госпо́дня, ниже́ ослабѣва́й от него́ облича́емь:

его́же бо лю́битъ Госпо́дь, наказу́етъ, бiе́тъ же вся́каго сы́на, его́же прiе́млетъ.

Блаже́нъ человѣ́къ, и́же обрѣ́те прему́дрость, и сме́ртенъ, и́же увѣ́дѣ ра́зумъ.

Лу́чше бо сiю́ купова́ти, не́жели зла́та и сребра́ сокро́вища:

честнѣ́йша же е́сть ка́менiй многоцѣ́нныхъ: не сопротивля́ется е́й ничто́же лука́во, благозна́тна е́сть всѣ́мъ приближа́ющымся е́й: вся́ко же честно́е недосто́йно ея́ е́сть.

^–от у́стъ ея́ исхо́дитъ пра́вда, зако́нъ же и ми́лость на язы́цѣ но́ситъ.

Долгота́ бо житiя́ и лѣ́та жи́зни въ десни́цѣ ея́, въ шу́йцѣ же ея́ бога́тство и сла́ва:^–

Путiе́ ея́ путiе́ добри́, и вся́ стези́ ея́ ми́рны.

Дре́во живота́ е́сть всѣ́мъ держа́щымся ея́, и воскланя́ющымся на ню́, я́ко на Го́спода, тверда́.

Бо́гъ прему́дростiю основа́ зе́млю, угото́ва же небеса́ ра́зумомъ:

въ чу́вствѣ его́ бе́здны разверзо́шася, о́блацы же источи́ша ро́су.

Сы́не, да не премине́ши, соблюди́ же мо́й совѣ́тъ и мы́сль:

^–[бу́детъ же исцѣле́нiе пло́темъ твои́мъ и уврачева́нiе косте́мъ твои́мъ:]

да жива́ бу́детъ душа́ твоя́, и благода́ть бу́детъ на твое́й вы́и:^–

да хо́диши надѣ́яся въ ми́рѣ во всѣ́хъ путе́хъ твои́хъ, нога́ же твоя́ не по́ткнется.

А́ще бо ся́деши, безбоя́зненъ бу́деши, а́ще же поспи́ши, сла́достно поспи́ши.

И не убои́шися стра́ха наше́дшаго, ниже́ устремле́нiя нечести́выхъ находя́щаго:

Госпо́дь бо бу́детъ на всѣ́хъ путе́хъ твои́хъ и утверди́тъ но́гу твою́, да не поползне́шися.

Не отрецы́ся благотвори́ти тре́бующему, егда́ и́мать рука́ твоя́ помога́ти.

Не рцы́: отше́дъ возврати́ся, и зау́тра да́мъ, си́льну ти́ су́щу благотвори́ти: не вѣ́си бо, что́ породи́тъ де́нь находя́й.

Не соплета́й на дру́га твоего́ зла́, прише́лца су́ща и упова́юща на тя́.

Не вражду́й на человѣ́ка ту́не, да не что́ на тя́ содѣ́етъ зло́е.

Не стяжи́ злы́хъ муже́й поноше́нiя, ни возревну́й путе́мъ и́хъ.

Нечи́стъ бо предъ Го́сподемъ вся́къ законопресту́пникъ и съ пра́ведными не сочетава́ется.

Кля́тва Госпо́дня въ домѣ́хъ нечести́выхъ, дворы́ же пра́ведныхъ благословля́ются.

Госпо́дь го́рдымъ проти́вится, смире́ннымъ же дае́тъ благода́ть.

Сла́ву прему́дрiи наслѣ́дятъ, нечести́вiи же вознесо́ша безче́стiе.

Fili mi, ne obliviscaris legis meae, et praecepta mea cor tuum custodiat;

longitudinem enim dierum et annos vitae et pacem apponent tibi.

Misericordia et veritas te non deserant; circumda eas gutturi tuo et describe in tabulis cordis tui,

et invenies gratiam et successum bonum coram Deo et hominibus.

Habe fiduciam in Domino ex toto corde tuo et ne innitaris prudentiae tuae.

In omnibus viis tuis cogita illum, et ipse diriget gressus tuos.

Ne sis sapiens apud temetipsum; time Dominum et recede a malo.

Sanitas quippe erit umbilico tuo, et irrigatio ossibus tuis.

Honora Dominum de tua substantia et de primitiis omnium frugum tuarum,

et implebuntur horrea tua frumento, et vino torcularia tua redundabunt.

Disciplinam Domini, fili mi, ne abicias nec asperneris, cum ab eo corriperis:

quem enim diligit, Dominus corripit et quasi pater in filio complacet sibi.

Beatus homo, qui invenit sapientiam et qui affluit prudentia:

melior est acquisitio eius negotiatione argenti, et auro primo fructus eius.

Pretiosior est cunctis gemmis, et omnia pretiosa tua huic non valent comparari;

longitudo dierum in dextera eius, et in sinistra illius divitiae et gloria.

Viae eius viae pulchrae, et omnes semitae illius pacificae.

Lignum vitae est his, qui apprehenderint eam; et, qui tenuerit eam, beatus.

Dominus sapientia fundavit terram, stabilivit caelos prudentia;

sapientia illius eruperunt abyssi, et nubes rorem stillant.

Fili mi, ne effluant haec ab oculis tuis; custodi prudentiam atque consilium,

et erit vita animae tuae, et gratia collo tuo;

tunc ambulabis fiducialiter in via tua, et pes tuus non impinget.

Si dormieris, non timebis; quiesces, et suavis erit somnus tuus.

Ne paveas repentino terrore et irruentem tibi turbinem impiorum, cum venerit.

Dominus enim erit in latere tuo et custodiet pedem tuum, ne capiaris.

Noli prohibere beneficium ab eo, cui debetur, si in potestate manus tuae est, ut facias.

Ne dicas amico tuo: «Vade et revertere, cras dabo tibi», cum statim possis dare.

Ne moliaris amico tuo malum, cum ille apud te sedeat cum fiducia.

Ne contendas adversus hominem frustra, cum ipse tibi nihil mali fecerit.

Ne aemuleris hominem iniustum nec imiteris omnes vias eius,

quia abominatio Domini est omnis pravus, et cum simplicibus societas eius.

Maledictio a Domino in domo impii, habitacula autem iustorum benedicentur.

Ipse deludet illusores et mansuetis dabit gratiam;

gloriam sapientes possidebunt, stultorum exaltatio ignominia.
