KARIVALIS, DIODORUS
KARIVALIS, DIODORUS, Patriarch of Jerusalem (14 August 1923– ). Born on the island of Chios, Greece, he became a monk in Jerusalem on 4 March 1944, a deacon on 5 October 1947, and a priest in 1957. In 1957 he received a theological degree from the University of Athens. On 10 November 1962, he was elevated to Archbishop of Hierapolis (Amman, Jordan), and on 16 February 1981, to Patriarch of Jerusalem.
