KOINIOIS, PARTHENIOS, Patriarch of Alexandria (30 Nov 1919– ). In 1939 he received a Diploma of Theology from the Theological School of Halki, Istanbul, and was ordained to the diaconate, the next year he became an archdeacon, and in 1948, a priest. In 1958 he was made Metropolitan of Carthage, and was elevated to Patriarch of Alexandria on 8 March 1987.
