Видѣ́нiе Авді́ино: сiя́ глаго́летъ Госпо́дь Бо́гъ Идуме́и: слу́хъ слы́шахъ от Го́спода, извѣ́стiе во язы́ки посла́: воста́ните, и воста́немъ на ню́ ра́тiю.

Се́, ма́ла да́хъ тя́ во язы́цѣхъ, безче́стенъ ты́ еси́ зѣло́.

Презо́рство се́рдца твоего́ воздви́же тя́ живу́щаго въ пеще́рахъ ка́менныхъ: возвыша́яй хра́мину свою́, глаго́ляй въ се́рдцы свое́мъ: кто́ мя све́ржетъ на зе́млю?

А́ще вознесе́шися я́коже оре́лъ и а́ще положи́ши гнѣздо́ твое́ средѣ́ звѣ́здъ, и отту́ду све́ргу тя́, глаго́летъ Госпо́дь.

А́ще бы та́тiе влѣ́зли къ тебѣ́, или́ разбо́йницы но́щiю, ка́мо бы пове́рженъ бы́лъ еси́? еда́ не укра́ли бы дово́лныхъ себѣ́? или́ а́ще бы объе́млющiи виногра́дъ влѣ́зли къ тебѣ́, еда́ бы не оста́вили гро́здiя?

Ка́ко объиска́ся Иса́въ, и взя́та бы́ша сокрове́нная его́?

Да́же до предѣ́лъ испусти́ша тя́: вси́ му́жiе завѣ́та твоего́ сопроти́вишася ти́, премого́ша тя́ му́жiе ми́рницы твои́: [яду́щiи съ тобо́ю] положи́ша ле́сть подъ тобо́ю, нѣ́сть смы́сла въ ни́хъ.

Въ то́й де́нь, глаго́летъ Госпо́дь, погублю́ прему́дрыя от Идуме́и и смы́слъ от горы́ Иса́вовы:

и убоя́тся во́ини твои́, и́же от Ѳема́нъ, да отъи́мется человѣ́къ от горы́ Иса́вовы.

Посѣче́нiя ра́ди и нече́стiя, е́же на бра́та твоего́ Иа́кова, покры́етъ тя́ сту́дъ, и отве́рженъ бу́деши во вѣ́къ.

От него́же дне́ сопроти́вился еси́ во дни́ плѣня́ющихъ иноплеме́нниковъ си́лу его́, и чужді́и внидо́ша во врата́ его́ и о Иерусали́мѣ верго́ша жре́бiя, и ты́ бы́лъ еси́ я́ко еди́нъ от ни́хъ.

И да не пре́зриши дне́ бра́та твоего́ въ де́нь чужди́хъ, и да не пора́дуешися о сынѣ́хъ Иу́диныхъ въ де́нь поги́бели и́хъ, и да не велерѣ́чиши въ де́нь ско́рби:

и не входи́ во врата́ люді́й мои́хъ въ де́нь болѣ́зни и́хъ, и не пре́зри и ты́ со́нма и́хъ въ де́нь потребле́нiя и́хъ, и не совѣща́йся на си́лу и́хъ въ де́нь поги́бели и́хъ:

ниже́ насто́й на исхо́ды и́хъ потреби́ти избѣга́ющыя и́хъ, ниже́ заключа́й бѣжа́щыя и́хъ въ де́нь ско́рби.

Поне́же бли́зъ де́нь Госпо́день на вся́ язы́ки: я́коже сотвори́лъ еси́, си́це бу́детъ ти́, воздая́нiе твое́ возда́стся на главу́ твою́.

Поне́же я́коже еси́ пи́лъ на горѣ́ мое́й святѣ́й, испiю́тъ вси́ язы́цы вино́, испiю́тъ и сни́дутъ, и бу́дутъ я́ко не бы́вшiи.

Въ горѣ́ же Сiо́ни бу́детъ спасе́нiе, и бу́детъ свята́: и наслѣ́дятъ до́мъ Иа́ковль наслѣ́дившихъ я́.

И бу́детъ до́мъ Иа́ковль о́гнь, до́мъ же Ио́сифовъ пла́мень, а до́мъ Иса́вовъ въ тро́стiе, и возгоря́тся на ни́хъ и поядя́тъ я́, и не бу́детъ избѣга́яй до́му Иса́вову, я́ко Госпо́дь глаго́ла.

И наслѣ́дятъ и́же во наге́вѣ го́ру Иса́вову, и и́же въ раздо́лiи иноплеме́нники: и во́змутъ го́ру Ефре́мову и по́ле самарі́йско, и Венiами́на и Галаади́тиду.

И преселе́нiя нача́ло сiе́ сыно́мъ Изра́илевымъ, земля́ Ханане́йска до саре́пты: преселе́нiе же Иерусали́мле до Ефра́ѳа: и наслѣ́дятъ гра́ды наге́вовы.

И взы́дутъ спаса́емiи от горы́ Сiо́ни, е́же отмсти́ти го́ру Иса́влю, и бу́детъ ца́рство Го́сподеви.

Видение Авдия. Так говорит Господь Бог об Едоме: весть услышали мы от Господа, и посол послан объявить народам: «вставайте, и выступим против него войною!»

Вот, Я сделал тебя малым между народами, и ты в большом презрении.

Гордость сердца твоего обольстила тебя; ты живешь в расселинах скал, на возвышенном месте, и говоришь в сердце твоем: «кто низринет меня на землю?»

Но хотя бы ты, как орел, поднялся высоко и среди звезд устроил гнездо твое, то и оттуда Я низрину тебя, говорит Господь.

Не воры ли приходили к тебе? не ночные ли грабители, что ты так разорен? Но они украли бы столько, сколько надобно им. Если бы проникли к тебе обиратели винограда, то и они разве не оставили бы несколько ягод?

Как обобрано все у Исава и обысканы тайники его!

До границы выпроводят тебя все союзники твои, обманут тебя, одолеют тебя живущие с тобою в мире, ядущие хлеб твой нанесут тебе удар. Нет в нем смысла!

Не в тот ли день это будет, говорит Господь, когда Я истреблю мудрых в Едоме и благоразумных на горе Исава?

Поражены будут страхом храбрецы твои, Феман, дабы все на горе Исава истреблены были убийством.

За притеснение брата твоего, Иакова, покроет тебя стыд и ты истреблен будешь навсегда.

В тот день, когда ты стоял напротив, в тот день, когда чужие уводили войско его в плен и иноплеменники вошли в ворота его и бросали жребий о Иерусалиме, ты был как один из них.

Не следовало бы тебе злорадно смотреть на день брата твоего, на день отчуждения его; не следовало бы радоваться о сынах Иуды в день гибели их и расширять рот в день бедствия.

Не следовало бы тебе входить в ворота народа Моего в день несчастья его и даже смотреть на злополучие его в день погибели его, ни касаться имущества его в день бедствия его,

ни стоять на перекрестках для убивания бежавших его, ни выдавать уцелевших из него в день бедствия.

Ибо близок день Господень на все народы: как ты поступал, так поступлено будет и с тобою; воздаяние твое обратится на голову твою.

Ибо, как вы пили на святой горе Моей, так все народы всегда будут пить, будут пить, проглотят и будут, как бы их не было.

А на горе Сионе будет спасение, и будет она святынею; и дом Иакова получит во владение наследие свое.

И дом Иакова будет огнем, и дом Иосифа – пламенем, а дом Исавов – соломою: зажгут его, и истребят его, и никого не останется из дома Исава: ибо Господь сказал это.

И завладеют те, которые к югу, горою Исава, а которые в долине, – Филистимлянами; и завладеют полем Ефрема и полем Самарии, а Вениамин завладеет Галаадом.

И переселенные из войска сынов Израилевых завладеют землею Ханаанскою до Сарепты, а переселенные из Иерусалима, находящиеся в Сефараде, получат во владение города южные.

И придут спасители на гору Сион, чтобы судить гору Исава, и будет царство Господа.

The vision of Obadiah. Thus says the Lord GOD concerning Edom (We have heard a report from the LORD, And a messenger has been sent among the nations, saying, «Arise, and let us rise up against her for battle»):

«Behold, I will make you small among the nations; You shall be greatly despised.

The pride of your heart has deceived you, You who dwell in the clefts of the rock, Whose habitation is high; You who say in your heart, «Who will bring me down to the ground?́

Though you ascend as high as the eagle, And though you set your nest among the stars, From there I will bring you down,» says the LORD.

«If thieves had come to you, If robbers by night-- Oh, how you will be cut off!-- Would they not have stolen till they had enough? If grape-gatherers had come to you, Would they not have left some gleanings?

«Oh, how Esau shall be searched out! How his hidden treasures shall be sought after!

All the men in your confederacy Shall force you to the border; The men at peace with you Shall deceive you and prevail against you. Those who eat your bread shall lay a trap for you. No one is aware of it.

«Will I not in that day,» says the LORD, «Even destroy the wise men from Edom, And understanding from the mountains of Esau?

Then your mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, To the end that everyone from the mountains of Esau May be cut off by slaughter.

«For violence against your brother Jacob, Shame shall cover you, And you shall be cut off forever.

«For the day of the LORD upon all the nations is near; As you have done, it shall be done to you; Your reprisal shall return upon your own head.

For as you drank on My holy mountain, So shall all the nations drink continually; Yes, they shall drink, and swallow, And they shall be as though they had never been.

«But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, And there shall be holiness; The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.

The house of Jacob shall be a fire, And the house of Joseph a flame; But the house of Esau shall be stubble; They shall kindle them and devour them, And no survivor shall remain of the house of Esau,» For the LORD has spoken.

The South shall possess the mountains of Esau, And the Lowland shall possess Philistia. They shall possess the fields of Ephraim And the fields of Samaria. Benjamin shall possess Gilead.

And the captives of this host of the children of Israel Shall possess the land of the Canaanites As far as Zarephath. The captives of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad Shall possess the cities of the South.

Then saviors shall come to Mount Zion To judge the mountains of Esau, And the kingdom shall be the LORD́s.

N'est-ce pas en ce jour, dit l'Éternel, Que je ferai disparaître d'Édom les sages, Et de la montagne d'Ésaü l'intelligence?

Tes guerriers, ô Théman, seront dans l'épouvante, Car tous ceux de la montagne d'Ésaü périront dans le carnage.

A cause de ta violence contre ton frère Jacob, Tu seras couvert de honte, Et tu seras exterminé pour toujours.

Le jour où tu te tenais en face de lui, Le jour où des étrangers emmenaient captive son armée, Où des étrangers entraient dans ses portes, Et jetaient le sort sur Jérusalem, Toi aussi tu étais comme l'un d'eux.

Ne repais pas ta vue du jour de ton frère, du jour de son malheur, Ne te réjouis pas sur les enfants de Juda au jour de leur ruine, Et n'ouvre pas une grande bouche au jour de la détresse!

N'entre pas dans les portes de mon peuple au jour de sa ruine, Ne repais pas ta vue de son malheur au jour de sa ruine, Et ne porte pas la main sur ses richesses au jour de sa ruine!

Ne te tiens pas au carrefour pour exterminer ses fuyards, Et ne livre pas ses réchappés au jour de la détresse!

Car le jour de l'Éternel est proche, pour toutes les nations; Il te sera fait comme tu as fait, Tes oeuvres retomberont sur ta tête.

Car, comme vous avez bu sur ma montagne sainte, Ainsi toutes les nations boiront sans cesse; Elles boiront, elles avaleront, Et elles seront comme si elles n'avaient jamais été.

Mais le salut sera sur la montagne de Sion, elle sera sainte, Et la maison de Jacob reprendra ses possessions.

La maison de Jacob sera un feu, et la maison de Joseph une flamme; Mais la maison d'Ésaü sera du chaume, Qu'elles allumeront et consumeront; Et il ne restera rien de la maison d'Ésaü, Car l'Éternel a parlé.

Ceux du midi posséderont la montagne d'Ésaü, Et ceux de la plaine le pays des Philistins; Ils posséderont le territoire d'Éphraïm et celui de Samarie; Et Benjamin possédera Galaad.

Les captifs de cette armée des enfants d'Israël Posséderont le pays occupé par les Cananéens jusqu'à Sarepta, Et les captifs de Jérusalem qui sont à Sepharad Posséderont les villes du midi.
