[Зач. 64.] Си́монъ Пе́тръ, ра́бъ и посла́нникъ Иису́съ Христо́въ, равночестную съ на́ми получи́вшымъ вѣ́ру въ пра́вдѣ Бо́га на́шего и Спа́са Иису́са Христа́:

благода́ть ва́мъ и ми́ръ да умно́жится въ позна́нiи Бо́га, и Христа́ Иису́са Го́спода на́шего.

Я́ко вся́ на́мъ Божественныя си́лы Его́, я́же къ животу́ и благоче́стiю, по́дана ра́зумомъ {позна́нiемъ} Призва́вшаго на́съ сла́вою и добродѣ́телiю,

и́миже честна́я на́мъ и вели́кая обѣтова́нiя дарова́шася, да си́хъ ра́ди бу́дете Божественнаго прича́стницы естества́, отбѣ́гше, я́же въ мíрѣ, по́хотныя тли́:

и въ са́мое же сiе́, тща́нiе все́ привне́сше, подади́те въ вѣ́рѣ ва́шей добродѣ́тель, въ добродѣ́тели же ра́зумъ,

въ ра́зумѣ же воздержа́нiе, въ воздержа́нiи же терпѣ́нiе, въ терпѣ́нiи же благоче́стiе,

во благоче́стiи же братолю́бiе, въ братолю́бiи же любо́вь.

Сiя́ бо су́щая въ ва́съ и мно́жащаяся, не пра́здныхъ ниже́ безпло́дныхъ сотворя́тъ вы́ въ Го́спода на́шего Иису́са Христа́ позна́нiе:

ему́же бо нѣ́сть си́хъ, слѣ́пъ е́сть, мжа́й, забве́нiе прiе́мъ очище́нiя дре́внихъ свои́хъ грѣхо́въ.

[Зач. 65.] Тѣ́мже па́че, бра́тiе, потщи́теся извѣ́стно ва́ше зва́нiе и избра́нiе твори́ти: сiя́ бо творя́ще, не и́мате согрѣши́ти никогда́же,

си́це бо оби́лно припода́стся ва́мъ вхо́дъ въ вѣ́чное Ца́рство Го́спода на́шего и Спа́са Иису́са Христа́.

Сего́ ра́ди не облѣню́ся воспомина́ти при́сно ва́мъ о си́хъ, а́ще и вѣ́дите, и утвержде́ни есте́ въ настоя́щей и́стинѣ.

Пра́ведно бо мню́, доне́лѣже е́смь въ се́мъ тѣлеси́, возставля́ти ва́съ воспомина́нiемъ,

вѣ́дый, я́ко ско́ро е́сть отложе́нiе тѣлесе́ моего́, я́коже и Госпо́дь на́шъ Иису́съ Христо́съ сказа́ мнѣ́.

Потщу́ся же и всегда́ имѣ́ти ва́съ по мое́мъ исхо́дѣ па́мять о си́хъ твори́ти.

Не ухищре́ннымъ бо ба́снемъ послѣ́довавше сказа́хомъ ва́мъ си́лу и прише́ствiе Го́спода на́шего Иису́са Христа́, но самови́дцы бы́вше вели́чествiя О́наго.

Прiе́мъ бо от Бо́га Отца́ че́сть и сла́ву, гла́су прише́дшу къ Нему́ от велелѣ́пныя сла́вы: Се́й е́сть Сы́нъ Мо́й возлю́бленный, о Не́мже А́зъ благоизво́лихъ.

И се́й гла́съ мы́ слы́шахомъ съ небесе́ сше́дшь, съ Ни́мъ су́ще на горѣ́ святѣ́й.

И и́мамы извѣ́стнѣйшее проро́ческое сло́во: ему́же внима́юще я́коже свѣти́лу сiя́ющу въ те́мнѣмъ мѣ́стѣ, до́брѣ творите́, до́ндеже де́нь озари́тъ, и денни́ца возсiя́етъ въ сердца́хъ ва́шихъ,

[Зач. 66.] сiе́ пре́жде вѣ́дуще, я́ко вся́ко проро́чество кни́жное по своему́ ска́занiю не быва́етъ.

Ни бо́ во́лею бы́сть когда́ человѣ́комъ проро́чество, но от Свята́го Ду́ха просвѣща́еми глаго́лаша святі́и Бо́жiи человѣ́цы.

Simón Pedro, siervo y apóstol de Jesucristo, a los que habéis alcanzado, por la justicia de nuestro Dios y Salvador Jesucristo, una fe igualmente preciosa que la nuestra:

Gracia y paz os sean multiplicadas, en el conocimiento de Dios y de nuestro Señor Jesús.

Todas las cosas que pertenecen a la vida y a la piedad nos han sido dadas por su divino poder, mediante el conocimiento de aquel que nos llamó por su gloria y excelencia;

por medio de estas cosas nos ha dado preciosas y grandísimas promesas, para que por ellas lleguéis a ser participantes de la naturaleza divina, habiendo huido de la corrupción que hay en el mundo a causa de las pasiones.

Por esto mismo, poned toda diligencia en añadir a vuestra fe virtud; a la virtud, conocimiento;

al conocimiento, dominio propio; al dominio propio, paciencia; a la paciencia, piedad;

a la piedad, afecto fraternal; y al afecto fraternal, amor.

Si tenéis estas cosas y abundan en vosotros, no os dejarán estar ociosos ni sin fruto en cuanto al conocimiento de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

Pero el que no tiene estas cosas es muy corto de vista; está ciego, habiendo olvidado la purificación de sus antiguos pecados.

Por lo cual, hermanos, tanto más procurad hacer firme vuestra vocación y elección, porque haciendo estas cosas, jamás caeréis.

De esta manera os será otorgada amplia y generosa entrada en el reino eterno de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo.

Por esto, yo no dejaré de recordaros siempre estas cosas, aunque vosotros las sepáis y estéis confirmados en la verdad presente.

Tengo por justo, en tanto que estoy en este cuerpo, el despertaros con amonestación,

sabiendo que en breve debo abandonar el cuerpo, como nuestro Señor Jesucristo me ha declarado.

También yo procuraré con diligencia que, después de mi partida, vosotros podáis en todo momento tener memoria de estas cosas.

No os hemos dado a conocer el poder y la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo siguiendo fábulas artificiosas, sino como habiendo visto con nuestros propios ojos su majestad,

pues cuando él recibió de Dios Padre honra y gloria, le fue enviada desde la magnífica gloria una voz que decía: «Éste es mi Hijo amado, en el cual tengo complacencia.»

Y nosotros oímos esta voz enviada del cielo, cuando estábamos con él en el monte santo.

Tenemos también la palabra profética más segura, a la cual hacéis bien en estar atentos como a una antorcha que alumbra en lugar oscuro, hasta que el día amanezca y el lucero de la mañana salga en vuestros corazones.

Pero ante todo entended que ninguna profecía de la Escritura es de interpretación privada,

porque nunca la profecía fue traída por voluntad humana, sino que los santos hombres de Dios hablaron siendo inspirados por el Espíritu Santo.

Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,

as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,

by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge,

to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness,

to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.

For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;

for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth.

Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you,

knowing that shortly I must put off my tent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me.

Moreover I will be careful to ensure that you always have a reminder of these things after my decease.

For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty.

For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: «This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.»

And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.

And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;

knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,

for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
